Friendly bacteria: your questions answered
What is the difference between Baby Drops and Babies & Children?
Both of our baby friendly bacteria supplements contain Bifidobacterium breve M-16V®, a strain which has been scientifically researched in thousands of babies. Babies & Children powder also contains contains both Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG which has been clinically trialled in thousands of children.
All of these high-quality strains have been selected because they’re extensively researched in babies so you can simply choose the format you and your baby prefer. Some parents find it easiest to give their baby liquid drops directly into their babies mouth while some babies and toddlers prefer having their flavourless friendly bacteria powder mixed in with their milk. It is up to you and your child which format you decide to take for your friendly bacteria supplement, because the quality of the live cultures is consistent across the range.
What are baby friendly bacteria?
Friendly bacteria for babies are specialised supplements formulated for infants and young children. These supplements contain bacteria, such as strains of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, which are naturally found in a babies gut. High quality baby friendly bacteria always feature live cultures strains that have been clinically studied in children, making them well-suited for a baby's developing gut. Optibac’s children’s live cultures supplements include strains like Bifidobacterium breve M-16V®(1) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG(2), both of which are widely researched and proven safe for infants.
How do I select the best baby friendly bacteria supplement?
Choosing the right probiotic supplement for your baby involves finding a product that is both safe and backed by scientific research. It's essential to select a supplement designed specifically for babies and during pregnancy, as this ensures the bacteria strains are appropriate for their sensitive systems. Optibac Pregnancy, for instance, includes strains that have been extensively tested in both pregnant women and infants(3). If your baby has a specific health concern, look for a supplement containing strains that have been shown to benefit that condition, providing tailored support for their health needs.
